Qatar dispatches two LNG cargoes to UK

The United Kingdom LNG terminal’s located on the shores of the Milford Haven waterway are set to receive a cargo of Qatari liquefied natural gas each next week. 

The first cargo, heading for the South Hook LNG terminal is being transported aboard one of the world’s largest LNG carriers, the 266,000-cbm Aamira. Shipping data from the Milford Haven Port Authority shows the vessel is scheduled to dock at the terminal on March 13.

The 210,000-cbm LNG carrier Al Nuaman also loaded the cargo at the Qatari Ras Laffan complex and is heading to the UK. The ship will dock at the jetty of the Dragon LNG terminal on March 14, the shipping data shows.

The South Hook terminal can process 15.6 million tons of LNG annually, which is close to 20 percent of the natural gas needs of the UK. Qatar Petroleum owns 67.5 percent of South Hook LNG, ExxonMobil 24.15 percent and Total owns the rest.

The Dragon LNG terminal, owned by Shell and Petronas has a maximum gas send out rate to the NTS of 7.6 billion cubic meters of gas per annum. The terminal can supply up to 10 percent of the UK’s energy needs.
