RasGas Ends Year Without LTI

RasGas Company Limited today announced that it has, for the first time ever, completed a year without a serious injury (a Lost Time Injury or LTI).

RasGas has improved on its industry leading 2007 LTI rate of 0.03 (according to the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers) and is currently at a rate of zero in 2012.

Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, RasGas Managing Director, extended his appreciation and thanks to all employees for achieving an extraordinary safety performance milestone and for making 2011 RasGas’ best safety performance since production commenced in 1999.

“This enviable milestone achievement clearly demonstrates our continued commitment towards creating an incident -free workplace. I am proud to say that 2011 was our safest year ever whilst working 37 million man-hours, making this even more significant,” he said.

“Safety is a core value at RasGas as reflected in the results of the recent employee survey conducted across the company,” said Al Mohannadi.

Brett Doherty, Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Group Manager at RasGas said that it was the result of senior management’s visible commitment to safety at every opportunity, coupled with a strong safety culture possessed by our contractors and staff.

“Engagement through programmes such as Behaviour-Based Safety, Hand Injury Awareness, Reporting and Learning from Incidents, and our ‘Do Not Dismiss a Near Miss Campaign’ help drive our success. Our commitment to safety also goes beyond the workplace and extends to off-the-job safety campaigns,” he said.?

RasGas recently held its sixth annual process safety-focused interactive workshop for its senior leadership as part of the company’s core commitment to the safety of people, plant and the environment.

RasGas implements RGEE (RasGas Elements for Excellence), which is the company’s comprehensive management system of safety policies and procedures to control the risks inherent in its business, with the aim of achieving zero incidents.
