Qatargas Attends European Autumn Gas Conference

Qatargas has participated in the 25th European Autumn Gas Conference (EAGC), one of Europe’s longest running annual gas conferences, which was held in Berlin, Germany, on 9-10 November.

Commenting on Qatargas participation in the conference, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer, Qatargas, said: “We are keen to attend significant industry events globally given the exposure it offers to us as a leader in the field of LNG business. Qatargas, under the guidance and direction of His Excellency Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry, makes it a point not to miss these events, especially as the state of Qatar is all set to celebrate the world’s largest LNG production capacity of 77 million tons per annum by the end of this year.”

Alaa Abujbara, Marketing Director, Qatargas, participated in the “Leadership Panel” which was held on day two of the event. The session also featured Klaus Schäfer, Chief Executive Officer, E.ON Ruhrgas AG, Jean-François Cirelli, Vice Chairman & President, GDF Suez and Phillipe Boisseau, President, Total Gas & Power. They revealed what it will take to best promote and grow the gas industry in a time of energy security uncertainty and the drive to reduce carbon emissions.

This year’s conference theme was ‘Forging a prosperous pathway through volatile times’. The EAGC brought together Europe’s gas industry leaders, professionals, policymakers, strategists and traders to discuss and debate the challenges facing the industry, specifically within the European community, as well as the trends and expectations for European gas supply and demand.

Abujbara emphasised on Qatargas’s continued obligation and reputation of being a safe, competitive and reliable LNG supplier. “As Qatargas becomes the largest LNG producer in the world it is committed in continuing its long term partnership with our European customers,” he said.
