Qatar Petroleum’s two liquefied natural gas (LNG) units, Qatargas and RasGas completed the first co-loading of the chilled fuel for a split delivery.

Qatargas and RasGas co-loaded the cargoes at the Ras Laffan terminal in Qatar on the Q-Flex LNG vessel, Al Khuwair.

The two companies claim in the multi-port delivery method of a single cargo from two separate suppliers is an industry milestone, as previous practice was to load a single cargo for delivery to a single location supplied by a single seller.

The cargoes were delivered to the Zeebrugge LNG terminal in Belgium and the South Hook LNG terminal in the United Kingdom respectively.

According to a Qatargas statement, 139,405 cubic meters, out of the total 207,764 loaded at Ras Laffan, were delivered to the Fluxys-operated Zeebrugge LNG terminal while the remaining 68,359 cubic meters were unloaded at the South Hook LNG terminal.

At the end of last year, Qatar Petroleum made the decision to merge its two LNG production companies that will be operating under a single entity, named Qatargas.
