Qatargas reaches safety milestone

Qatargas, world’s largest LNG producer, said it completed over 20 million man-hours across all of its assets and projects without a lost time incident (LTI).

Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatargas CEO, said, “Safety is a core value in Qatargas that we have embedded in all of our systems. Over the past few years, we have continuously improved our safety processes and programs and introduced several initiatives aimed at ensuring the safety of our people and assets.”

“This milestone however, was not achieved by these programs alone. The dedication and expertise of our people and the support of our shareholder partners were crucial in making this achievement possible. As we continue our journey to be the World’s Premier LNG company, we will set ever higher safety standards and strive to reach new milestones. This achievement clearly demonstrates that we are on the right path. I wish to express my thanks and congratulations to all Qatargas employees and contractors for their support in reaching this important milestone,” he added.

This achievement is all the more significant because it has been reached during a period when three major projects, the Jetty Boil-off Gas project, the Plateau Maintenance Project and Laffan Refinery 2 are being executed by Qatargas, the company said in a statement.

Several challenges including the summer weather conditions, and thousands of new workers joining the projects were successfully managed through comprehensive Health, Safety and Environment plans, training programs and compliance to the safety rules and regulations, it added.
