Qatargas is participating as a principal sponsor in the 7th International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC), being held at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha from 19 – 22 January.

Being organised under the theme “Unlocking Energy through Innovation, Technology and Capability” the event addresses evolving energy trends worldwide and what the industry needs to do to overcome the technical challenges facing the industry at present. It also clearly highlights the importance of technological innovation and international cooperation in ensuring the industry’s continued growth and development in the coming years.

As a key industry event, Qatargas views the conference as a platform to discuss and share perspectives on current and future industry topics, exchange knowledge and benefit from the expertise and capabilities of the participating countries and organizations. The event also provides excellent networking opportunities with industry peers from across the global LNG value chain.

Qatargas Chief Operating Officer, Engineering & Ventures, Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdulla Al-Thani participated in a panel session titled “The Future of Integrated Project Management in a Cyclic Environment.” During the session, Sheikh Khalid delivered a presentation sharing Qatargas’ experiences and the Company’s focus to reduce its environmental footprint.

Elaborating on Qatargas’ flare reduction initiatives he said: “Qatargas has made significant progress in reducing flaring from its LNG trains in line with the increased national focus on flare minimization and the Company’s desire to reduce its emissions and carbon footprint. This has been made possible through operational initiatives on source reduction, increased plant reliability, reduced shutdown/start-up flaring and a sustained focus on flare minimization facilitated by multi-disciplinary Flare Management Teams”

The presentation also highlighted Qatargas’ pioneering Jetty Boil-off Gas Recovery Project (JBOG) and other key environmental initiatives.

Qatargas delegates are presenting several papers during the conference covering a variety of subjects that highlight Qatargas’ innovation, operating excellence and environmental stewardship.

An exhibition is also being held on the sidelines of the conference, in which Qatargas is participating as part of the Qatar Petroleum pavilion. Visitors will be able to receive first-hand information regarding Qatargas and its activities from Qatargas personnel at the stand.
