QGC Opens Next Round of Sustainable Communities Fund

Not-for-profit organisations and local governments in the Western Downs and Gladstone local government areas can now apply for grants from the next round of the QGC Sustainable Communities Fund.

Since its launch in February 2011, the fund has helped 110 projects with contributions of more than A$3.4 million.

Up to A$6 million is being made available over the four years of construction of QGC’s Queensland Curtis LNG Project for short-term, one off projects.

In the Western Downs more than A$1.2 million has been provided for 38 projects and in Gladstone more than A$1 million has been provided for 34 projects.

In addition, the fund has provided more than A$1.2 million for 38 projects in the North Burnett and Banana shires.

QGC and community representatives assess applications and recommend funding.

Eligible groups can apply for grants between A$10,001 and A$50,000.

QGC Vice President Sustainability Brett Smith said the fund was a part of QGC’s commitment to working to improve the liveability of communities in the QCLNG Project area.

“We have had a great response to the first four rounds of funding and we encourage community organisations to submit applications,” Mr Smith said.

Organisations that have received grants in previous rounds remain eligible for funding.
