Ramboll hired for FEED work on Al-Shaheen’s new wellhead platforms

Ramboll and subcontractor DORIS Engineering have been appointed by North Oil Company (NOC), to execute FEED of three new wellhead platforms in the Al-Shaheen offshore oil field in Qatar.

Ramboll said on Tuesday, February 6 that the new wellhead platforms would also be linked to existing platforms in the Al Shaheen field. The project therefore involves modifying the existing facilities, which will develop opportunities and add even greater value to the field.

The work will be performed in close cooperation from Ramboll’s regional office in Doha and DORIS’ office in Paris, the company said.

Ramboll has previously worked on the platforms with performing the pre-FEED and holds experience with former studies for Al-Shaheen.

Lars Mogensen, Ramboll’s Business Development Director for the Middle East, said: “We are looking forward to collaborating with NOC in further development of Al-Shaheen. With this challenging and fast-track project, Ramboll can deliver design value in a difficult context and create sustainable solutions for the new platforms.”

Nicolas Parsloe, Chairman and CEO of DORIS said: “DORIS is very proud of participating in this Al-Shaheen FEED and pleased to support NOC and Ramboll on this project. It confirms our client’s confidence in our ability to deliver smart engineering and higher design value in a difficult and competitive context.”

The Al-Shaheen field is the largest oilfield in Qatar and produces 300.000 barrels of oil per day. Previously maintained by Maersk Oil, the field has been operated  by NOC, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (70%) and Total (30%), since July 2017.
