RasGas: Milaha Ras Laffan Sets Off on 100th Voyage

RasGas Company Limited’s (RasGas) second dedicated liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, ‘Milaha Ras Laffan,’ set sail last Monday from Qatar to Yung An, Taiwan on its 100th delivery voyage. Upon its arrival at Yung An on 8th June 2013, ‘Milaha Ras Laffan’ will have shipped almost 13,613,720 million cubic metres of LNG. This will be a major milestone event for both RasGas and the vessel.

“Milaha Ras Laffan” delivered RasGas’ first ever cargo shipment to Barcelona in May 2004 and has since travelled almost 1,000,000 nautical miles delivering LNG cargoes from Ras Laffan to RasGas’ customers across the globe. Her voyages include trips to Barcelona, Cartagena, Sagunto, Huelva, Incheon, Tong Yeong, Dahej, Hazira, Senboku, Futtsu, Zeebrugge, Murgados, Rovigo, Yung An, Taichung, Guanabara bay, and South Hook.

“Milaha Ras Laffan,” built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd of 647-9 Yoksam-Dong, Kangnam-ku, Seoul, Korea, was delivered to RasGas on 27th April 2004. The “Milaha Ras Laffan” is owned by Societe Generale, and Qatar Shipping Company, a fully owned subsidiary of Milaha (formerly Qatar Navigation) group, with a respective shareholding of 60/40% in the company.RasGas’ integrated shipping fleet consists of 27 long term chartered LNG vessels. Our diverse modern fleet consists of fourteen conventional ships, twelve Q-Flex tankers and one Q-Max.
