Report: Canada Searching for Cargo Ship’s Missing Sailor

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) deployed a team of investigators to the Port of Trois-Rivières, Québec, following an accident involving the cargo ship Amazoneborg.

The authority did not specify the nature of the incident, however, media reports suggest that relevant authorities were sent to search the waters and shoreline near the port on September 30 in an effort to find a 23-year-old man who went missing from the ship the night before.

World Maritime News contacted the 17,355 dwt ship’s operator, the Netherlands-based Wagenborg Shipping, for more details on the matter, however, the company is yet to reply.

According to AIS data provided by Marine Traffic, the 2007-built vessel is currently on its way from Canada’s Trois-Rivières to the port of Pori, Finland, where it is scheduled to arrive on October 14, 2017. The data shows that the ship left the Canadian port in the afternoon hours of October 1.
