REpower Systems AG establishes subsidiary for the German wind energy market

REpower Systems GmbH starts operations on October 1, 2010. Stronger focus on the German market planned

REpower Systems AG (WKN 617 703) has established an independent company named REpower Systems GmbH to serve the core markets in Germany and Austria. The company will start operations on October 1 and will have its offices at Group headquarters in Hamburg. REpower Systems GmbH will bundle sales, project management and service of onshore wind turbines in Germany and Austria. Around 200 employees in these and other areas will transfer from the AG to the new company.

REpower Systems GmbH is a fully owned subsidiary of REpower Systems AG, the third largest manufacturer of wind turbines on the German market. Its structure is similar to the foreign subsidiaries of the Group. The restructuring is a response to the strong growth of the company and its increasing internationalization.

Andreas Nauen, CEO of REpower Systems AG, underlines the importance of the restructuring: “In our international core markets, we have already established highly effective subsidiaries. We now want to also implement this in the domestic market so that we can consistently follow the course of becoming a truly global corporation and adapt our international organizational structure here in Germany accordingly.” He adds: “The roots of REpower are in Germany – of course, our still promising home market is particularly important for us. With REpower Systems GmbH, we intend to reinforce our position in Germany and Austria on a long term basis.”

Jens Müller-Nielsen will head REpower Systems GmbH as its managing director. Before joining REpower in January 2010, he worked for Jungheinrich AG and JLG Deutschland GmbH. Müller-Nielsen underlines that, “Our customers will retain their familiar contact partners and existing contracts between our customers and REpower Systems AG will be unchanged. What is new is that we can react more flexibly to customer requirements with this bundling of business activities. Shorter decision paths and improved transparency are other advantages.” He adds: “Due to its long-term experience and technologically advanced products, REpower Systems AG has acquired a strong reputation in Germany up to now. We want to continue this success story with REpower Systems GmbH.”

In the period from January to July 2010, REpower installed wind turbines in Germany with a total output of almost 80 megawatts (MW).
