Damen Galati Splashes New PSV for 'World Wide Supply' Company

Damen Shipyards Galaţi has launched on 18-th of January 2013, the hull number 1230 “World Diamond”, Platform Supply Vessel. This vessel is part of a contract for 6 fully equipped PSV-s which have been ordered to Damen Group by the Norwegian owners from “World Wide Supply” company.

Hull number 1230 is the first from the series of the 6 PSV-s to be built for WWS – Norway.

This vessel is built in cooperation with Damen Shipyards Gorinchem – The Netherlands which provides engineering and main equipment, the vessel being built and completed in Galati.

The building and completion of hull number 1230 are carried out by specialized companies (co-makers), respectively: for insulations, upholstery and furniture – HELMERS, local branch in Galati; EEKELS for the electrical equipment and installations, by Eekels Romania in Galati; painting and conservation – DEN BREEJEN and for air conditioning and ventilation, JOHNSON CONTROL supported by De Haan Galati.

Main purpose of the ship is transport of different cargo (fuel, drinking water, salt brine, cement, barite, drilling mud, drilling pipes, etc.) and crews to and from the North Sea offshore drilling rigs and production platforms in support of hydro carbon exploration and production activities. The vessel can also carry on deck conventional containers for diverse cargo. In the same time, the vessel can operate as fire extinguisher to the sea platforms being provided with oil recovery equipment.

The vessel is equipped with two Schottel azimuth propellers and will operate as a “dynamic positioning DP2” vessel when carrying out loading / unloading operations around offshore drilling rigs or production platforms.
