Oka Shipyard Cuts Steel for Ninth Tanker of Project RST27

Under the order of “V.F.Tanker” Shipping Company, Oka Shipyard started cutting metal for the ninth tanker of Project RST27 series (Volgo-Don Max type) “VF Tanker – 19” with sea/river deadweight of 7030/5428 tons (building No. 02709).

Base sections were laid for hulls No. 6 (in May) and No. 7 (in July). Constructions are under assemblage. The fourth vessel will be launched in August. The second tanker is going to sail for running test. The Shipyard should deliver four vessels by the contract, but according to the actual rate, six more tankers from new series would be built.

Project RST27 was designed by Marine Engineering Bureau.

New project tanker has increased river function comparing with other MEB projects. River deadweight of RST27 project vessels is increased for 716 t comparing to Armadas, while:

  • hull strength increasing (sea region R2, or region II due to old RS classification);
  • practically keeping the same fuel consumption;
  • keeping increase capacity of cargo tanks.
