Russia Reveals Sabetta Port Construction Contractors
Sabetta Port

The Russian Government has appointed USK Bridge and Mezhregiontruboprovodstroy as contractors for the construction of Sabetta Port on Yamal Peninsula, Siberia.

The USK Bridge and Mezhregiontruboprovodstroy infrastructure companies will be contracted for the construction of seaport Sabetta, part of the Yamal LNG project, until 2019.

Once built, the port will be able to host gas carrier vessels assigned to Yamal LNG project all year round.

Originally the cost of the construction project was estimated at USD 2.08bn, including USD 1.34bn allocated from the federal budget.

However, the financial projection was changed based on the  ice movement on the Ob,  leading to the strengthening of ice protection constructions.

To cover the additional costs, the Ministry of Transport suggests cutting down financing on a number of port projects in the northwest of the country, and allocating the released funds for Sabetta Port Construction Project.

The draft of the government resolution on it is posted already online for public discussion. If the resolution is accepted, the total cost of the project will grow to USD 2.72bn.

All deep-water construction will be executed by USK Bridge, and land works will be divided between USK Bridge and Mezhregiontruboprovodstroy.
