SCF Group Celebrates 5th Anniversary of Its LNG Fleet

SCF Group marked five years of work as an independent gas operator of liquefied natural gas (LNG), making a breakthrough into a new market segment, previously unavailable for Russian companies.

Today, the SCF fleet has six LNG vessels and two LPG (liquefied petroleum gas)tankers, which are servicing a number of well-known international clients, such as Sakhalin Energy, Shell, Gas Natural, Transammonia, Geogas and other companies. The geography of SCF gas vessels operation is global and covers all major regions of LNG production and consumption. Vessels are engaged in various Russian and international projects, such as «Sakhalin-2», «Tanguh», «Escobar», carry out the delivery and transshipment of LNG, including ship-to-ship technology (LNG transshipment to regasifying vessel). The share of gas transportation amounts to 11 per cent of the total revenues of the company.

In the shipbuilding programme of SCF Group there are two ultra-modern LNG vessels, which are being built for Gazprom Global LNG. SCF development strategy envisages further expansion of company participation in LNG transportation, including the development of new industrial projects in the Russian Arctic. Many years of experience of the company in maritime energy transportation in harsh climate and ice conditions ensure effective solutions for regular year-round LNG transportation for projects of any complexity.

Nikolai Kolesnikov, Executive Vice-President, Chief Strategy and Financial Officer of SCF noted: “LNG transportation is a sustainable and exceptionally conservative activity. Relationship with customers among the major oil companies are built on the basis of long-term contracts. Interaction with the client and the deep integration of its business are very strong, since the proportion of the transport component in the cost of goods is rather high and reaches 25-30 per cent. Russia’s share in the world gas reserves amounts to one third. Therefore, serving the needs of Russian oil and gas companies in the maritime LNG transportation sector remains a strategic priority for us.
