Russia ups gas exports to Austria

Russian gas exports to the Austrian market grew by 76.2 percent in January versus the same month in 2015.

This was revealed during a meeting in Moscow held Tuesday between Alexey Miller of Gazprom and Reinhold Mitterlehner, Austrian Vice Chancellor.

Throughout 2015, the gas deliveries to Austria rose by 11.5 percent against 2014, Gazprom said in a statement.

Gazprom’s CEO and the Vice Chancellor also discussed the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

On September 4, 2015 Gazprom, BASF, E.ON, Engie, OMV and Shell inked a shareholders agreement to build the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline system with an annual capacity of 55 billion cubic meters from Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea.
