Vyborg Makes Final Delivery of Blocks for Icebreaking Supply Vessel NB-506

On June 20th, 2012 Vyborg shipyard JSC, in full accordance with the agreed construction schedule, made the final contract delivery of blocks (order 507) for the second multifunctional supply vessel which is being built at Arctech Helsinki Shipyard.

VSY fulfilled its obligations under the contract, signed in April, 2011 between Vyborg Shipyard JSC and Arctech Helsinki Shipyard (AHS) for blocks construction for two icebreaking supply vessels for Sovcomflot JSC.

The vessels are to be build for Sakhalin-1 Arkutun-Dagi gas field, where they will be used as supply vessels for Exxon Neftegas Limited’s platform. The main purpose for these vessels is to supply the gas production platform and to protect it from the ice. The icebreaking capability of the vessels is extremely high, they are able to operate independently in 1.7 meter thick ice.

The project combines the Arctic expertise of Russia and the West, providing vessels capable of operating year-round either on rough seas or in the middle of ice fields. Vitus Bering and her sistership will be ideal vessels resulting from this international cooperation.

Vessels dimensions:

Deadweight – 3,950 t

Length overall – 99.2 m
