RVO.nl Schedules IJmuiden Ver Geophysical Survey Tender

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) is planning to issue a tender in November for geophysical investigations at the IJmuiden Ver offshore wind zone.

The selected company will be in charge of carrying out a geophysical survey required to obtain the soil information at a part of the Ijmuiden Ver zone.

RVO.nl plans to issue the tender on 21 November, with the fieldwork expected to be conducted in spring/summer 2020.

According to the agency, the objective of the geophysical soil investigation is to improve the bathymetrical, morphological and geological understanding of the area, as well as identify objects in the zone.

The objective is also to gather geophysical information, which is suitable for the preparation of geotechnical investigations and to progress the design and installation requirements for offshore wind farms, including, but not limited, to foundations and infield cables.

The acquired soil information will be made available to all potential bidders for offshore wind farms in the Netherlands.

The 4GW IJmuiden Ver is one of three sites identified by the Dutch Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030. The three sites have a combined capacity of 6.1GW and are expected to help the Netherlands reach the target of 11.5GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.

The wind farms at the sites are expected to be commissioned between 2024 and 2030.
