SAFE accepts wages deal. No strike offshore

SAFE, Norwegian Union of Energy Workers, yesterday accepted the offshore workers’ wages deal proposed by the National Mediator, thus averting a possible strike of offshore workers on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

SAFE accepts wages deal. No strike

“We are pleased that the Norwegian Union of Energy Workers (Safe) has chosen to accept the National Mediator’s proposed solution for the offshore agreements,” says Norwegian Union of Energy Workers (, chief negotiator at Norwegian Oil and Gas, representing employers.

The union made this announcement on the afternoon of Thursday 26 June. That means a threatened strike in ExxonMobil has been called off, and a settlement achieved on the agreements for pay and conditions covering employees in operator, catering and drilling companies.

Oil service mediation

The next mediation session will be on 4-5 July, covering the oil service agreement. This will be between Norwegian Oil and Gas and the Industry Energy union, since Safe wishes to enter the mediation process only after these two have reached the agreement. Mediation with Safe is scheduled for 15-16 August.
