‘Safe Boreas’ gains AoC. Cleared for Edvard Grieg work

Prosafe Offshore Limited, the owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation rigs, has received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway for Safe Boreas.

Safe Boreas is a semi-submersible accommodation rig delivered by Jurong Shipyard in Singapore and is constructed according to the GVA 3000E design and equipped with a DP3 system as well as 12 point mooring arrangement.

The rig is already hired to work on Lundin-operated Edvard Grieg field offshore Norway in connection with hook-up and commissioning of the Edvard Grieg production platform. It has the capacity to accommodate 450 persons in single man cabins.

Decision

“It is the PSA’s assessment that petroleum activities may be carried out using the Safe Boreas facility within the regulatory framework, “ the PSA says.

The regulator further explains that the validity of this Acknowledgement of Compliance assumes that Prosafe Offshore Limited ensures that the vessel and relevant parts of the company’s organisation and management systems are maintained, to fulfil terms and conditions set out in the PSA’s decision.

In connection with the AoC application by Prosafe Offshore Limited, the PSA carried out audits within a number of selected disciplines including emergency preparedness, helicopter deck, structural safety and health-related factors.
