Sakhalin Energy Hits LNG Production Milestone

Sakhalin Energy Hits LNG Production Milestone

Russia’s only LNG plant, operated by Sakhalin Energy, has produced 50 million tonnes of LNG.

The LNG plant has been launched in February 2009. Since that time, Sakhalin Energy supplied 769 cargoes of LNG. The bulk of the product has been shipped to Japan and South Korea. Also, Sakhalin-2 LNG was delivered to China, India, Thailand and Taiwan. The output of both trains of Sakhalin Energy LNG plant is already sold under long-term contracts.

“This is an important milestone in the history of the company. The delivery of the new for Russia energy product was per our contract obligations and thus we can say that Sakhalin Energy is confidently moving toward its primary objective – to be the premier energy source for Asia Pacific,” said Roman Dashkov, Chief Executive Officer of Sakhalin Energy.

Sakhalin Energy is a joint venture between Gazprom (50% + 1 share), Royal Dutch Shell (27.5% – 1 share), Mitsui (12.5%) and Mitsubishi Corporation (10%). Sakhalin Energy contributes over 4% of global LNG supplies.
