SapuraKencana takes UMW jack-up rig

Malaysia’s UMW Oil & Gas subsidiary, UMW Offshore Drilling, has received a letter of award for one of its drilling rigs from SapuraKencana Energy, also from Malaysia.  

SapuraKencana Energy Peninsula Malaysia Inc., SapuraKencana Energy Sarawak Inc. and SapuraKencana Energy Sabah Inc., collectively referred to as SKE, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad (SKPB), involved in the exploration, development and operatorship of oil and gas fields.

According to UMW O&G, the contract is for the provision of drilling rig services for SapuraKencana’s drilling program, for up to 18 wells with an extension option for 3 additional wells.

The company has assigned its latest rig, UMW Naga 8, for this contract that started on September 28, 2015.

UMW Naga 8 is a 2015-built, independent-leg cantilever jack-up rig that has a drilling depth capability of 30,000 feet and has a rated operating water depth of 400 feet. The rig is of a Keppel FELS B Class Design.
