SBM Offshore Chooses Proact for Their Enterprise Storage and Back-Up Environment

SBM Schiedam, a Dutch division of SBM Offshore, a global market leader in the production of installations for the extraction and storage of oil and gas products, has chosen Proact (STO:PACT) for the delivery and implementation of a new Enterprise storage and back-up environment.

Proact is providing the complete solution, including Proact’s own global 24×7 Premium support services for hardware and software. SBM is signing a three-year contract with Proact, to further optimise the IT (storage) environment.

SBM was looking for a highly-scalable environment that could handle the performance and availability of its applications and databases.

The complete solution that Proact is supplying consists of three NetApp systems, including the recently launched FAS 6220 from NetApp’s flagship series. The back-up part of the solution is based on Commvault technology. This back-up solution provides SBM with maximum integration with NetApp snapshots from a single GUI for all back-up and restore tasks, guaranteeing minimal impact on the performance and management of the NetApp storage environment.

Erwin Sparreboom, Senior IT Manager SBM Schiedam, explains, “We chose Proact because, besides a good technical solution, we were above all, looking for a solid partner for the longer term that can also provide vendor-independent and integrated solutions During the selection process Proact showed clear future vision in the field of storage and cloud-related services and they stood out with a creative and constructive approach which they shared with us.”

Lucas den Os, Managing Director of Proact in the Netherlands, says, “We are extremely proud of the fact that Proact is able to provide a key element of the IT infrastructure of an organisation that is responsible for projects which are worth several billions of euros. With this solution SBM Offshore is ensured of outstanding performance, reliability and above all the ‘business agility’ that the organisation demands as a ‘global player’. We look forward to a successful and long-term cooperation.”
