SCF Group Inaugurates Singapore Office

SCF Group announced the official opening of its new Singapore office – the first branch of the Group to be located outside Europe and its fourth international office.

The main activity of the new office will be the technical management of vessels for a number of major industrial projects, such as Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2. There will be seven ships, chartered by the major oil companies Shell and Exxon under the long-term charter agreements, under the management of SCF Unicom Singapore. All the vessels are engaged in the transportation of hydrocarbons to the Asian markets. The main cargo consignees are from South Korea, Japan and China.

The company has plans to further expand its presence in South-East Asia as transportation volumes grow.

The official opening ceremony of the Singapore office was attended by SCF’s Senior Vice-President Sergey Popravko, the Managing Director of the Singapore office Yury Sukhanov and by Sovcomflot’s partners – the representatives of major oil and gas companies and banks.

Speaking at the ceremony Sergey Popravko noted: “The opening of the Singapore office is an important event in the company’s life. We have offices abroad – in Limassol, London and Madrid. This is our first office in Asia. Its opening demonstrates the growing importance of this region for our business – seaborne energy transportation. Despite the unfavourable situation in the shipping industry, Sovcomflot has a solid position in the market which is made possible by stable, mutually beneficial, relationships with our customers, many of whom joined us today at this event.
