The contract size will depend on the level of activity, but is expected to exceed the amount of 1 billion Norwegian crowns ($150 million) over the period, Lundin said.

Under the agreement, Schlumberger will be providing, among others, directional drilling services and measurement and logging while drilling services, supporting Lundin’s “comprehensive drilling program in the coming years.”

“Lundin Norway has a comprehensive drilling program in the coming years and wants more drilling rigs on contract. In connection with the development of the Solveig field in the North Sea, production and injection wells will be drilled, in addition to infill wells on the Edvard Grieg field, and a considerable number of exploration wells in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea, and the Barents Sea,” Lundin said on Wednesday.

Morten Grini, Drilling & Well Director in Lundin said: “We are pleased to initiate such an important and long-term cooperation with Schlumberger. The work we are going to do together will have a decisive impact on the future value creation in Lundin Norway,” says Grini.

The contract initially applies for the next four years, with extension options for further four years.

In related news, Lundin on Thursday announced two oil discoveries in the North Sea, offshore Norway at its Jorvik and Tellus East wells on the eastern edge of the Edvard Grieg field. Read more on that here.
