Scottish Company Wins Deal to Improve Its Renewables Supply Chain

The Scottish business, the Renewables Directory Ltd, to announce that today RWE Npower Renewables has chosen to adopt the directory as part of its procurement processes.

On reacting to the news Michael Sinclair, Managing Director of the Renewables Directory, said “This is important news for us. We have spent the last 2 years working with buyers and suppliers alike to develop ways of making the process of finding, evaluating and approving suppliers easier and less costly for everyone involved.”

The renewable industry is clear that – with its agreed cost reduction targets for 2020 – one of the challenges needing to be addressed is the cost of procurement for both buyers and suppliers. This is where the Directory is focused.

Tim Sandford, Commercial Director of the Renewables Directory, explains, “The directory is designed to be the glue that enables buyers and vendors to connect more effectively – making it easier and less expensive for buyers to source suppliers. For suppliers, it means they can be found more easily and demonstrate their competence to buyers with an Enhanced listing.”

In a communication released today, RWE Npower Renewables made the following statement:

RWE Npower Renewables have selected the Renewables Directory as our supply chain search and identification tool. Use of the Directory’s structured supply chain database, will enable RWE Npower Renewables procurement to search for, find and identify potential suppliers and contractors that we wish to investigate and evaluate. We have been particularly impressed with both the structure of the Directory and the quality of the information that suppliers and contractors can record about their accreditations, capabilities and competences in the Enhanced CV, which makes it much easier for our procurement officers to initially identify potential suppliers and contractors to invite to pre-qualification.

The Renewables Directory is available immediately for both buyers and vendors with a variety of options on how they can access it and use it to improve the overall procurement process.
