Scottish Renewables Welcomes GBP 15 Million Found Announcement

The announcement of the Scottish Innovative Foundation Technologies Fund by Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Fergus Ewing is welcomed by Scottish Renewables.

The £15 million fund has been established to help develop deep-water wind turbine foundations in Scotland.

 Michael Rieley, Policy Manager at Scottish Renewables said:

“The announcement of the Scottish Innovative Foundation Technologies Fund is an important step in ensuring the future success of offshore wind in Scotland.

 “With decades of experience in marine engineering and a global reputation for excellence in manufacturing, Scotland is at the forefront of the development of innovative deep water technologies. Companies such as Wood Group, Petrofac and Subsea7 are already applying their knowledge of working offshore oil and gas to the new challenge of offshore wind deployment and this fund will help drive the innovation which is so vital to developing a truly world class offshore wind supply chain that can support Scotland and further afield.

 “The announcement of this funding comes at crucial time for the sector as projects with the potential to generate over 4 GW of clean, green energy progress through the planning system, and represents yet another example of the benefits which offshore renewables can bring to Scotland.”
