Scottish Water Solutions Project Shows Good Results

The citizens from Shapinsay, Scotland, will receive clearer, fresher water supplies thanks to a subsea pipeline project, Trenchless International reports.

This £3.1 million Scottish Water Solutions project included drilling of a 300 mm diameter hole under the seabed over a distance of 2 km. This is considered to be the longest subsea pipeline for water supply constructed in the UK.

The pipeline runs from Carness Point on the outskirts of Kirkwall to the Balfour Castle grounds on Shapinsay.

The completion of the entire project is expected by the end of 2012.
