Sea Star Line Takes Over 150 New Refrigerated Containers

Sea Star Line, LLC recently took delivery of 150 new 40’ refrigerated containers in year two of a five year equipment replacement plan. The replacement plan aims to reduce the average age of the entire Sea Star Line refrigerated container fleet to less than 3 years.

Sea Star recognizes the needs of our customers for dependable, state-of-the-art refrigerated equipment and this is why we have initiated this five year replacement plan to reduce the age of our fleet.” said Eduardo Pagan, Vice President and General Manager Puerto Rico and Caribbean.

The new 40’ refrigerated containers are set to arrive at the Blount Island Terminal in Jacksonville, Florida in June 2013. The reefers will be fit with Carrier PrimeLine Machinery, the latest technology available for refrigerated equipment. Carrier Transicold continues to be at the forefront of the transportation refrigeration industry and this is why Sea Star line continues in this partnership.

Bill Taylor, Vice President, U.S. Sales added “The young fleet will offer many benefits to our customers including quicker cooling capacity which reduces idle load times and provides additional savings to our customers.

The entire Sea Star Line reefer fleet is equipped with an industry unique StarGuard remote reefer monitoring system which provides continual end to end visibility of the operation of the refrigerated unit while in the Sea Star Line cold chain.
