    SINGAPORE, Singapore’s Pan-United Marine Ltd. shipbuilder has booked a $49.5 million contract to build an offshore diving support vessel. The vessel, which is the fourth such contract from PUM’s unnamed customer, will be built in a Batam, Indonesia, shipyard, and delivered in the third quarter of 2008, MarineLog.com said Tuesday.

Two of these vessels (type ASD 3211, 65 tons bp) have been awarded with a long-term contract for the Terminals Division in Equatorial Guinea and will be delivered in respectively September and December 2007.

    Seabrokers reports that Mexican shipping company Blue Marine has ordered two 170ft rapid intervention vessels from Mazatlan, Sinaloa. The vessels are part of the Pemex fleet modernisation plan and made the headlines for being the first vessels in more than 20 years to be built in a private Mexican shipyard.

    AP Moller-Maersk, Odense Steel Shipyard and the SH Group have formed a new lifeboat system company called Nadiro. The company claims that their product considerably increases safety when a lifeboat is launched. The system draws on existing technology used in windmills and also utilises laser measurement technology.
