SeaRoc Welcomes Four New Experts (UK)

 

Marine and engineering company SeaRoc, part of the Natural Power group, has today announced the successful appointment of four new team members who bring with them a wealth of industry experience from the Renewables Industry, combined with wider knowledge from the oil & gas and other offshore sectors. The recruitment drive is a result of a number of new key contracts being awarded to SeaRoc to be announced later this year.

SeaRoc provide expertise offshore to renewable energy projects. The companies’ products, such as SeaPlanner – a suite of marine management tools – are being used on half of the UK’s offshore installed MW’s and the team are embedded in several Round 1, 2 and 3 projects as well as a number of European developments. SeaRoc and Natural Power provide niche services to the maturing marine energy market working with device developers on installation strategies and design considerations as well as delivering the turn key offshore met mast design and installation service, OceanPod.

Details of the new starters at SeaRoc can be found below:

Neil Pittam (BSc (hons), CMarSci, MIMarEST) has joined SeaRoc from his position at The Crown Estate where as the Marine Data Manager he was lead and primary developer contact for Round 3 offshore wind data and information. Neil has over 15 years marine project experience and is an accomplished project manager committed to offshore renewable development. Earlier in his career he worked as a hydrographic surveyor with Fugro b.v. and progressed in to data management, general marine science, oceanographic measurement and renewable projects with ABP Marine Environmental Research, ABPmer. He then worked for PMSS as a Development Consultant. A Chartered Marine Scientist and Honorary Secretary of the Southern Branch of The Hydrographic Society UK, Neil’s new position will provide survey, data and project management expertise to several projects. He will also contribute to SeaRoc’s business strategy and the development of products such as SeaPlanner and innovative marine data acquisition systems.

Alan Pickering joins SeaRoc’s Engineering team as Senior Consultant after many years contracting in the in the Oil and Gas, Petrochem, Process and Mechanical industries as well as Building & Civils. His wide ranging experience includes time spent as an Offshore Client Rep on the Robin Rigg Wind Farm installation covering foundations, cabling and WTG installation. He has experience of conceptual platform design for the Baird, Babbage and Breagh fields amongst others and preparation of piping and valve specifications, work packs and technical specifications. His design experience covers a wide spectrum from subsea templates and large diameter high pressure drilling risers through to high speed X-ray Inspection equipment.

Kevin Parsons joins the QHSE team at SeaRoc as Senior Consultant, he is a NEBOSH diploma qualified Health and Safety professional with extensive experience of managing marine related civil engineering projects worldwide. He is a versatile Construction and Marine Health and Safety professional with an excellent record of achievement in the implementation of operational Health and Safety standards. Kevin is experienced in planning, allocating and evaluating work carried out by individuals and teams, receiving and organising information for action in the multi-disciplinary environment of Civil Engineering Marine Construction & Commercial Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). Responsibilities have included the project management, risk assessment, planning and management of safe system or work for operations worldwide.

Gary McConnell-Lawlor (IOSH, MIIRSM, MIIAI) is joining SeaRoc in May 2011 as QHSE Senior Consultant. Following a career in the Royal Navy, Gary has successfully managed Health & Safety in a wide variety of industries including marine exploration, offshore operations, shipyards, rail infrastructure, construction and facilities management. Gary is accustomed to working to ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 14001: 2004 and ISO 18001: 2007 standards, is a graduate of IOSH and a member of the Institute of Risk and Safety Management, and Industrial Accident Investigators.

On the announcement of these new positions at SeaRoc, COO Eric Briar commented: “SeaRoc has secured a number of key contracts over the past month and this recruitment drive is key to delivering those projects. Across the Natural Power group we are currently recruiting around one new team member a week to support projects, and we expect to continue that level of growth through 2011. SeaRoc provides a practical, innovative environment to work in developing knowledge and experience from other offshore sectors and applying innovative tools such as SeaPlanner which we have developed in house as a result of customer requirements to meet offshore legislation.”
