Sen. Barrasso urges passage of LNG exports bill

Senator John Barrasso, as chairman of the Public Lands, Forests, and Mining Subcommittee, called for the passage of S. 33, the LNG Permitting Certainty and Transparency Act.

This bipartisan energy legislation, co-authored by Senators Barrasso and Martin Heinrich, would streamline the review process for exports of American liquefied natural gas, Barrasso said in a statement.

“America is the world’s largest producer of natural gas and we have the resources to be a major exporter of this versatile fuel. We just need Washington to provide regulatory certainty so that investors have confidence that projects will be permitted in a timely manner,” Barrasso said.

He stressed that LNG exports will create jobs all across the country plus reduce the nation’s trade deficit. These exports will also help strengthen the energy security of key U.S. allies and strategic partners around the world who are eager to buy America’s natural gas, Barrasso added.
