Sertanejo Spirit is one of Teekay Offshore’s new Samba Class shuttle tankers to operate for BG in Brazil under 10-year time-charters.

The DP2 shuttle tanker is designed for offshore loading and is, according to the owner, more efficient and eco-friendly than any of her predecessors.

More than a hundred guests from BG Group and Teekay joined the naming ceremony including President of Teekay Shuttle and Offshore Services, Ingvild Saether, and godmother of the vessel, wife of CEO of BG Brasil, Marina Silva.

Each vessel of the Samba Class (Bossa Nova Spirit, Samba Spirit, Lambada Spirit and Sertanejo Spirit) was named to reference the Brazilian culture and lifestyle. Sertanejo is a classic music style that had its origins in the countryside of Brazil in the 1920s.
