Norway’s marine construction and operations player Ocean Installer, part of the Moreld Group, has entered the Brazilian market with its first contract in the country, secured with Norwegian state-owned energy firm Equinor.

Ocean Installer will deliver the installation of rigid well jumpers between flowlines and subsea trees, and flying leads, as well as associated pre‑commissioning for numerous wells at the Bacalhau field in the Santos Basin over a period of four and a half years, with options for extension and rigid jumper fabrication.

In parallel with the award, the company recently established a Brazilian entity and onboarded its first local employees.

The contract is defined as significant, meaning it is worth between NOK 500 million and NOK 1 billion (around €45.8 million-€91.6 million) in expected value.

The first offshore campaign is expected in 2027.

“This award represents a step‑change for Moreld,” said Geir Austigard, Moreld CEO. “This is Ocean Installer’s first award in Brazil. The scope involves production‑critical work on a major international asset operated by Equinor, reflecting Ocean Installer’s ability to deliver safely, reliably and consistently over time.”

The ultra‑deepwater Bacalhau field is located in a water depth of 2,100 meters. It is said to be Equinor’s largest international offshore field and the first asset in the Brazilian pre-salt area to be entirely developed by an international operator.

“The long project duration provides a stable foundation to build our local organisation in Brazil,” said Kevin Murphy, Ocean Installer CEO. “Brazil is an attractive market with a significant pipeline of subsea projects to be executed, and we see strong alignment between upcoming opportunities and Ocean Installer’s core competencies.”
