Shanghai Port Improves January Container Stats

China’s Shanghai port, a global leader in annual container volumes handled, has increased its January throughput by 5.3% compared to the same month last year, Shanghai International Port (Group) reports.

The port handled 3.16 million TEUs in the previous month, 160,000 TEUs more than in January 2014.

Last year the Shanghai port handled 35.29 million TEUs, making it the busiest container port in the world for five years in a row.

Shanghai port is comprised of Waigaoqiao port, Yangshan port and Wusong port.
