Shanghai Xiongcheng Orders Wind Farm Service Vessel

Chinese shipowner Shanghai Xiongcheng Offshore Engineering placed an order for a 50-metre offshore wind farm service vessel at the Jiangsu Dayang Offshore Equipment shipyard.

The vessel concept was developed by Shanghai Xiongcheng together with the Swedish marine design company FKAB and its main function is to provide maintenance services to offshore wind farms along China’s East Coast area.

The wind farm service vessel will come equipped with a walk-to-work gangway with a 6 degrees wave compensation unit.

The vessel will also feature a DC diesel-electric propulsion system and two azimuth contra-rotating thrusters, to achieve best operational function and fuel efficiency in both transit and DP2 conditions.

FKAB Shanghai office will carry out the full basic and detail design of the vessel.
