Shell cleared to use ‘Island Constructor’ at Draugen

Norwegian offshore safety authority has given its approval to Shell for the use of the Island Constructor vessel for start-up and repairs of wells on the Draugen offshore field in Norway.

More precisely, Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) gave its consent to Shell to use the Island Offshore-owned well intervention vessel for startup of wells 6407/9 G -2 H (G2) and 6407/9 G -3H (G3 ) and repair of 6407/9 E-1 HT2 (E1) on the Draugen field.

Draugen is an oil field in the Norwegian Sea in 250 metres of water. The field has been developed using a fixed concrete platform with an integrated deck.

To remind, Island Offshore, the owner of the vessel, in April revealed the contract for two of its vessels with Shell at Draugen, the Island Constructor and Island Valiant.

Island Valiant in April started Inspection, Maintenance and Repair on the three wells, preparing the wells for the work which Island Constructor will perform later this summer.
