Shell taps CHC for helicopter services offshore Brazil

Oil major Shell has hired offshore helicopter provider CHC to support its exploration and appraisal work offshore Brazil.

CHC said Friday that its Brazilian subsidiary CHC Brazil would be supporting Shell’s operations at the Brava Star platform supporting the Gato do Mato and Alto de Cabo Frio fields.

Carlos Madaleno, CHC’s regional director for LAM: “The project will be supported by the Sikorsky S-92 aircraft and be based out of CHC’s Jacarepagua airport facility.”

The contract is for seven months, but Shell will have options for extension.

Worth noting, this is a second offshore helicopter contract CHC has signed with Shell in the last two weeks.

The offshore helicopter specialist in June signed a deal with Shell to continue as the provider of helicopter transportation services to the giant Prelude FLNG facility offshore Australia.
