As reNews reports, Marine Current Turbines, a Siemens-owned company, said that the strategy for deployment of tidal generators, which would have the potential to supply electricity for up to 10,000 homes, will remain under review.

MCT would now look at other opportunities to deploy its SeaGen tidal generators.

The Company’s spokesperson said: “We continue to believe that tidal energy will play an important future role in delivering the UK’s low carbon economy and creating long term sustainable jobs.”

The funding for the project was retrieved due to delays in securing private sector match funding for the project.
