Sif and Smulders Win SeaMade Contract

Dredging International has contracted Sif to produce the monopiles and, in joint venture with Smulders, the transition pieces for the SeaMade offshore wind farm in Belgium.

Under the contract, Sif will produce 58 monopiles and the primary steel for the transition pieces, with Smulders in charge of manufacturing the secondary steel and outfitting of the transition pieces.

The total volume of the project will amount to approximately 60ktons for the monopiles and 13.7ktons for the primary steel of the transition pieces. Production will begin next year.

SeaMade, which includes the merged 235MW Mermaid and 252MW Seastar projects, reached a financial close earlier in December.

The 487MW offshore wind farm will feature 58 Siemens Gamesa 8.0-167 DD turbines.

Construction will begin in the summer 2019 and commissioning is scheduled before the end of 2020.

Seamade NV, a joint venture between Otary (70%), Electrabel (17.5%), and Eneco Wind Belgium SA (12.5%) is the project developer.
