Norway-based LNG terminal operator, Skangas has secured a framework agreement to supply liquefied natural gas to two Finnish LNG-powered vessels.

Skangas will supply the chilled fuel to the offshore patrol vessel Turva and icebreaker Polaris for 2017–2019, following a tendering process arranged by the Finnish government central purchasing body, Hansel Ltd.

The framework agreement has an option for two additional years, Skangas said in a statement on Friday.

The company noted in the statement that it supplied LNG to Turva and Polaris during the previous agreement period.

“We performed around 600 LNG bunkering operations in the Nordic countries last year. Maritime transport plays a leading role in changing course towards a cleaner direction in the Baltic Sea. LNG complies with all the emission requirements and is highly energy-efficient,” Skangas’ Key Account Manager Jouni Bedda said in the statement.
