SLR Management Acquires CCA Environmental

3i-backed SLR Management Ltd, the international environmental consultancy, announces the acquisition of CCA Environmental Pty Ltd (CCA), an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultant to the international Oil & Gas industry and South African linear infrastructure sector. SLR Management Acquires CCA Environmental

Based in Cape Town, South Africa, CCA is focused primarily on project managing environmental management plans (EMPs), EIAs and permitting for new offshore oil and gas fields, for clients including Shell, Total, Exxon, Anadarko, Tullow and Cairn. CCA also undertakes linear infrastructure projects for public agencies, such as the National Roads Authority and Western Cape Government, in association with large international engineering companies.

The acquisition will enhance SLR’s client base in Africa, providing numerous cross selling opportunities across the Group’s core oil and gas, infrastructure, mining and waste clients, while contributing positively to both turnover and margins. In its last financial year, CCA delivered revenues of c.£1m and it has continued to grow strongly since.

Neil Penhall, Chief Executive of SLR, commenting on the acquisition, said:

With CCA’s broad range of blue chip clients, impressive order book and strong market position across southern Africa, this strategic acquisition gives SLR unique access to new growth markets and valuable exploration hot spots across CCA’s core regions of South Africa, Namibia and Mauritius.”

“The acquisition will widen the Group’s service offering by strengthening our global offshore and onshore EIA expertise and Africa-specific oil and gas experience, advancing SLR to EIA market leader status in South Africa and giving our international clients access to a 37-strong team of highly experienced technical professionals in the region.”

“This latest acquisition represents another key milestone in our stated strategy of augmenting organic growth through selective strategic acquisitions in order to strengthen and extend our technical and geographical coverage. This strategy has produced dividends for the Group over the past two years, during which time we have acquired four high-calibre international consultancies – HFP Acoustical Consultants (North America), GSS Environmental (Australia), Synergistics Environmental Services Limited (Africa) and Strategic Engineering & Sciences (US) – all of which are now fully integrated into the Group and are performing well.
