Solstad Christens Normand Maximus

Solstad Offshore’s NB 830 offshore subsea construction vessel, Normand Maximus, was christened on Friday at Vard Brattvåg, Norway.

According to Solstad’s social media update, the Godmother of the vessel is Maria Solstad, daughter of Lars Peder Solstad, the company’s chief executive officer.

The vessel was launched in November last year from Vard’s Romanian yard.

It is the largest vessel in Solstad’s fleet, with the length of 178 meters.

The vessel features a 550-ton top tension vertical lay-system, enabling the installation of large diameter flexible pipes in ultra-deepwater environments, and is equipped with a 900 ton active heave compensated offshore crane and a 4.000 ton under-deck carousel for storage of flexible pipes, cables and umbilicals.

Normand Maximus will work for Saipem on an 8-year charter agreement.
