Songa Bulk Offers Highest Bid for Efploia Bulker

Norwegian shipowner Songa Bulk has purchased the Panamax bulk carrier Maverick Genesis for USD 13.2 million through an auction procedure, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

Bought from Greece-based Efploia Shipping, the 2010-built vessel was the final ship in the company’s fleet.

Featuring 80,700 dwt, the Maverick Genesis, constructed by South Korean shipbuilder STX Offshore, has a market value of USD 12.6 million.

The purchase follows a number of Songa Bulk’s acquisitions in late 2016.

Namely, in December 2016 the company purchased the 2012-built Supramax bulker Western Tokyo, and a month earlier, Songa Bulk bought the 58,700 dwt Supramax Equinox Glory.

Also in November, the company bought the 2009-built Tenki Maru, and at the beginning of October 2016 the shipowner purchased the 82,700 dwt Ten Maru.

VesselsValue data shows that three of these secondhand vessels are yet to be delivered to Songa Bulk.
