South Hook books first August LNG cargo

South Hook liquefied natural gas terminal in the United Kingdom is scheduled to receive its first cargo of the chilled gas for August. 

According to the Milford Haven Port Authority data, the 217,000-cbm LNG carrier Al Khuwair set of from Qatari port of Ras Laffan and is expected to dock at the South Hook terminal’s jetty on August 3.

The Q-flex LNG carrier was built in 2008 by the South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries.

Data from the National Grid shows that gas supply from the South Hook LNG terminal to the UK’s national grid on Friday, July 28, was around 14.15 mcm/day.

The South Hook terminal, owned by Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Total, can process 15.6 million tonnes of LNG a year and is capable of delivering 21 billion cubic metres of gas a year into the UK’s national transmission system.
