South Korea: April LNG Imports at 2.72 Million Tonnes

South Korea imported 2.72 million tonnes of LNG in April, up 15% from the same month in 2011 when the country purchased 2.37 million tonnes of LNG, customs data showed.

The country’s LNG imports dropped 7.3% in March to 3.77 million tonnes of LNG, compared to the year before.

The LNG cargoes in April were shipped from Qatar, Indonesia, Oman, Malaysia, Nigeria, Russia, Yemen and Brunei.

South Korea’s KOGAS, the world’s largest corporate buyer of liquefied natural gas, plans to import about 36,46 million tonnes of LNG this year.
