South Korea: DSME Names Six Vessels in One Week

On 4th November, Hull No. 3609, which is a drillship ordered by Brazil based Odebrecht Oil & Gas was named ‘ODN I’ at quay D by Mrs. Vitoria Lins, spouse of Newton Lins Filho, Delba’s Shareholder. At the same time Hull No. 3610 was named ‘ODN II’ by Mrs. Virginia Ramos, spouse of Roberto Ramos, CEO of Odebrecht Oil & Gas.

Around 260 honored guests attended the naming ceremony including Roberto Ramos, the CEO of Odebrecht Oil & Gas, and Mr. Sang-Tae Nam, President & CEO of DSME.

On 1st November, Hull No. 1208, which is a 180,000 DWT bulk carrier ordered by Brilliance Navigation CO. LTD. – TCC GROUP was named ‘CSK BRILLIANCE’ at quay F2 by Mrs. Akiko Asakura, spouse of Mr. Jiro Asakura, the President & CEO of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.

Around 70 honored guests attended the naming ceremony including Mr. Kenneth Koo, TCC Group Chairman & CEO, Mr. Jiro Asakura, the President & CEO of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd., and Mr. Sang-Tae Nam, President & CEO of DSME.

On 31st October, Hull No. 1210, which is an 82,000 DWT bulk carrier ordered by KC MARITIME was named ‘DARYA MA’ at quay F1 by Mrs. Sumi Bindra, spouse of Mr. Jaspal Bindra, CEO of Standard Chartered PLC, Asia. ‘DARYA MA’ means ‘Sea mother’ in the Hindi language.

Around 85 honored guests attended the naming ceremony including Mr. Jaspal Bindra, CEO of Standard Chartered PLC, Asia, Mr. Sham Chellaram the Chairman of KC Maritime, as well as Mr. Jaeho Ko, Senior Executive & Vice President of DSME.

On 30th October, Hull No. 2281 and 2282, which are 160,500 CBM LNG carriers ordered by Sonangol E.P were named ‘SONANGOL ETOSHA’ and ‘SONANGOL BENGUELA’ by Mrs. Raquel Vunge, Finance Manager of Sonangol E.P, and Mrs. Solange Verdade, Deputy Operations Manager of Sonangol Limited in the UK.

Around 140 honored guests attended the naming ceremony including Mrs. Anabela Fonseca and Mr. Baptista Sumbe, who are both Vice Presidents of Sonangol E.P.
