South Korea: DSME Releases Its 2012 Environmental Report

DSME recently published its 2012 Environmental Report. The report contains the details of DSME’s environmentally-focused initiatives and progress to date. After having published six previous editions which included DSME’s environmental efforts, the company recognized the need to share more details of its environmental expertise based on its experience as a leading manufacturing company.

In the foreword, the President and CEO of DSME, Mr. Jaeho Ko, outlines how the DSME management and employees are united in carrying-out collaborative activities on “green” manufacturing procedures and systems.

The 71-page 2012 Environmental and Social Report is composed of four sections: DSME sustainability and Entrepreneurship, Growth and Leadership, Harmony and Stewardship, and Happiness and Companionship.

DSME first declared its commitment to the environment with its Green Shipyard campaign launched in 1996. Through the vision of ‘realizing green shipbuilding’, DSME has been approaching its management activities in a more systematic and sophisticated way. DSME became the Korean industry’s first company to acquire ISO 14001 certification in 1994. Recently, in March of 2012, DSME acquired an ISO 50001 international certification for its energy management system. With Trust and Passion as an integral part of our corporate culture, DSME is creating a positive workplace where there is respect and cooperation between labor and management.
