South Korea Hyundai Heavy Wins USD 900 Million Deal to Build Two Offshore Gas Platforms

South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world’s biggest shipbuilder and a leading offshore facilities contractor, today announced that the Company won a contract from a major oil company to build gas producing offshore platforms to be deployed in West Africa by the end of 2014.

Under the contract, the Company will build two offshore gas platforms; one weighing 11,000 tons and producing 120 million cubic feet of gas per day. The second platform will weigh 5,000 tons and will be able to produce 300 million cubic feet of gas per day.

Hyundai Heavy, as an EPIC Contractor, will perform all the project work covering engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning on a lump sum basis.
