Spain: Ibercisa Supplies Jan De Nul’s ‘Charles Darwin’

A new 30,500m3 capacity, 181-metre dredger for Belgian company Jan De Nul, called ‘Charles Darwin’, has been supplied with a number of deck machinery items from Spanish company Ibercisa.

The contract includes two combined windlasses with Ø81mm chain, which have been measured to work without stoppers due to the limited deck space. Its brakes have been calculated to support 80 percent of the load breaking chain.

Other machinery includes a double mooring winch and an auxiliary dredging winch, as well as an aft-anchor winch, with constant tension, for cable of Ø64mm and 100 tonnes of direct pull, and a bow-connection winch, for the assembly of the pumping pipeline.
